Key Characteristics
Appearance: Single flowers about 6–6.5 cm in diameter with snow-white petals. A distinctive feature of this variety is its contrasting dark blue or almost black center (sometimes with a greenish tint), reminiscent of a poppy flower.
Height: The plant reaches 40–50 cm in height. The 'Carmel' variety has longer and stronger stems than classic varieties such as 'Galilee'.
Flowering: Depending on planting time and climate, it blooms from mid-spring to early fall (most profusely from June to September). When planted in spring, one tuber can produce 8 to 12 buds. Growing Instructions
Planting Location: Prefers full sun or partial shade. Requires a draft-free location with fertile, loose, and well-drained soil.
Preparation: Before planting, it is recommended to soak the tubers (rhizomes) in water for several hours (or overnight) to stimulate growth.
Overwintering: In cold climates (zones 3–7), the tubers should be dug up for the winter and stored in a cool place. In warmer regions (zones 8–10), the plant can overwinter in the ground under cover.
Uses: Ideal for borders, rockeries, container gardening, and creating striking bouquets. Flowers are known for their good cut flower durability.
Caring for cut flowers (in a vase)
To keep anemones fresh longer, it is recommended to change the water daily, re-cut the stems, and keep the vase in a cool place away from direct sunlight and heating devices.
