Calendula, a genus of herbaceous plants of the Asteraceae family.

 An annual or biennial erect herbaceous plant from 20 to 75 cm high. Taproot.

 Shoots are thick, ribbed, light green, pubescent with sticky glandular hairs. Leaves are simple, alternate, light green, elongated or oval, pubescent with sparse stiff hairs.

 The wrapper is single-row, with narrow leaflets. Ligulate flowers are yellow or orange, shiny on top, matte on the underside; tubular flowers are small, yellow, orange or dark brown. Inflorescences are baskets 5-6 cm in diameter.
