Hydrangea paniculata 'Grandiflora' (Treeform).

A large shrub or, more often, a small tree, up to 5 m in height and 10 cm in diameter (in Japan it reaches 10 m in height and 15-20 cm in diameter). The bark of the trunk is brownish-gray, peeling.

The roots are shallow, the boundaries of their distribution significantly make up the diameter of the crown.

The leaves are elliptical or ovoid up to 12 cm in length.

The inflorescences are broadly pyramidal, densely hairy panicles up to 25 cm in length.

The fertile flowers are small, with white, early falling petals, sterile flowers are much larger, up to 2.5 cm in diameter, made of white petals, later becoming pink.

The first flowering and fruiting are observed at 4-5 years. The flowers have attractive nectar.

The fruit is a capsule, up to 3 mm long, cracking at the top. The seeds are involved, very small.

It blooms from June to October.
