  1. Forsythia is a genus of early-blooming deciduous shrubs belonging to the Olive family (Oleaceae), renowned for its exceptionally early and profuse flowering. In early spring, when most plants are just beginning to wake up, the bushes are densely covered in bright yellow, bell-shaped flowers—earning the plant popular names such as "golden rain" or "Easter bush." The leaves appear only after the flowering period has ended.
