Anemone - flower of the winds

Anemone - flower of the winds

The front gardens and fields of the   Mediterranean are full of beautiful flowers reminiscent of poppies - these are anemones. Some hard-working Russians grow them on their plots, we decided to remember everything we know about them.

Anemone is a perennial plant of the Buttercup family. There are about 170 species in total.

People also call this flower windflower.

Anemones grow in the extratropical zone of the Northern Hemisphere, and even in the Arctic.

The name "anemone" comes from the Greek word Άνεμος - "wind". Probably, the literal translation is "daughter of the winds". Anemone has very sensitive petals that desperately tremble in the wind.
