 The flower color of the Formosa tulip bulb is yellow with a green flame. As it blooms, the flower becomes more and more yellow. The core has green and yellow stripes. The pistil is yellow and the stamens are black. The flower has pointed petals. Formosa tulips are wonderfully fragrant and suitable for cutting. The flower stands on a strong red-green stem about 40 cm high.

 The Formosa tulip bulb belongs to the viridiflora tulip group. The group is characterized as "Late Single Tulips". It is a pity that these viridifloras are not so well known, because they are ideal for cutting and are also beautiful, strong, long-flowering garden tulips.

 As the Latin name suggests, the flower is mainly green, which, together with the second main color (shades of red, white or yellow), makes it especially interesting. They stand firmly on their stems and bloom - under slightly favorable weather conditions - for up to three weeks. Otherwise, these tulips resemble "simple late". However, the shape of the flower is different and, due to its pointed petals, resembles "lily-flowered tulips". The green part usually consists of a more or less wide strip from the base to the tip of the petals. Like most other late tulips, they grow quite tall - 40-50 cm.

 The best time to plant Formosa tulip bulbs is October and November. 

 The tulip bulb needs some time to form roots before the first frost. If you plant tulip bulbs before October, there is a risk of frost damage because the tulips will appear too early in the spring. The planting depth is 3 times the height of the bulb. In order to bloom in spring, the tulip bulb needs an irreplaceable winter. So, a cold period that should last at least 9 weeks with temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. Tulip bulbs are best planted in well-loosened, not too wet soil. If it is too wet, the bulbs will rot and there will be no flowers.

  They feel good in the sun or in partial shade. Plant tall tulips in a place where they are protected from strong winds, so that there is no wind blowing. You can plant tulip bulbs in groups or scatter tulip bulbs and plant them where they fell. The latter gives a natural effect.

 Formosa tulip bulbs are suitable for planting in a pot or container.
