  Subtropical deciduous plant of the genus Ficus of the Mulberry family. The Carian ficus is named after the place considered to be the birthplace of figs - the mountainous region of ancient Caria, a province of Asia Minor.

 In Central Asia, the Caucasus, Sochi, the Carpathians, Crimea and even in the Central zone of Russia it is grown in open ground as a valuable fruit plant that produces fruits - wine berries.

 Fig is one of the most ancient cultivated plants, presumably the most ancient. Fig was first grown in Arabia, from where it was borrowed by Phoenicia, Syria and Egypt. In the 13th century BC, it played an important role in the agriculture of the Kingdom of Pylos. It came to America only at the end of the 16th century.
