Hatiora is a genus of epiphytic (tree-dwelling) and lithophytic (rock-dwelling) succulent cacti endemic to the tropical forests of Brazil, particularly the Mata Atlântica region, where they form shrubs with segmented stems and beautiful flowers, often grown as houseplants.

Key Characteristics:
Epiphytes: Grow on other plants, clinging to trunks and branches.
Habitat: Tropical rainforests of eastern Brazil.

Flowers: Small, brightly colored (yellow, orange, pink), appear at the ends of shoots. Popularity: Some species, such as Hatiora salicornioides (salicorn lily), are very popular as ornamental houseplants, especially in hanging baskets.
Relatives: Related to Schlumbergera, sometimes included in the genus Rhipsalis.
