Yellow water lily (yum lily) is a perennial aquatic plant.

 Yellow water lily (yum lily) is a perennial aquatic plant of the Nymphaeaceae family.


 In Russia, yellow water lily can be found in the European part, Siberia and the Caucasus. It grows in quiet water, in slow rivers, along the banks of lakes and ponds.

 The rhizome is green-yellow, fleshy and thick, from 3 to 10 centimeters thick. The leaves floating on the surface are ovoid and 15 to 19 centimeters in size.


 Yellow water lily blooms from June to September. The fruit (ovoid-conical capsule) ripens from August to September.


 The plant is considered medicinal, mainly the rhizome is used in medicine.

 Yellow water lily is listed in the Red Book.
