Aquilegia

 Aquilegia.

Columbine (Aquilegia), also known as columbine or columbine, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the Ranunculaceae family.

 Key Characteristics:

Appearance: Recognizable by its unusually shaped flowers with "spurs" (hollow outgrowths of the petals that store nectar). The delicate, glaucous-green leaves remain decorative until autumn.

Flowering: Typically blooms in June–July. Flowers come in a variety of colors: blue, purple, pink, yellow, white, or two-tone.

Planting Location: Prefers partial shade and moderately moist, loose soil. In full sun, the flowers become smaller, and the flowering period is shortened.

Care: Low maintenance. Requires regular watering, weeding, and removal of spent flower stalks (to prevent self-seeding and prolong flowering).

 Features:

Short-lived: One plant lives on average 3-5 years, after which it is advisable to replace it with new specimens.

Easily crossbred: If several varieties are grown in a plot, the seeds from them will produce hybrid offspring of a wide variety of colors.

Toxicity: Like many buttercups, columbine contains toxic substances, so it is best to use gloves when handling it.

In landscape design, it is often used in mixed borders, rockeries, and to decorate tree trunks.
