Kerria (Latin: Kerria) is a deciduous ornamental shrub.

Kerria (Latin: Kerria) is a deciduous ornamental shrub in the Rosaceae family, represented by only one species: Kerria japonica. Due to its flower shape and bloom time, the plant is often called the "Easter rose." Main plant characteristics: Appearance: The shrub has slender, rod-like shoots of bright green color, which retain their color even in winter. In temperate climates, its height typically reaches about 1–1.5 meters. Flowering: Bright yellow flowers up to 4.5–5 cm in diameter resemble miniature roses or peonies.

Mass flowering begins in spring (May) and lasts about a month, after which the bush may bloom again during the summer and fall. Popular forms: Simple (natural) - with single five-petaled flowers. Pleniflora (Pleniflora) is the most popular variety with densely double, fluffy golden-yellow inflorescences.

Albomarginata / Aureovarigata - varieties with variegated, edged foliage. Planting and care Location: A sunny location or light partial shade is ideal, but must be protected from strong drafts and cold winds. In too bright sun, the flowers may fade slightly, and in deep shade, flowering will become sparse. Soil: Kerria prefers moist, fertile and well-drained soil (loam). It does not tolerate stagnant water. Pruning: Carry out twice a year. In early spring (before the sap begins to flow), remove frozen and broken branches, and trim healthy shoots to stimulate tillering. In summer, immediately after the first flush of flowering, cut back old, faded shoots to the ground. Wintering: The plant has moderate winter hardiness. In severe, snowless winters, the tops of the shoots may freeze, but the shrub quickly recovers in the spring from root growth. In cold climates, it is recommended to bend young bushes to the ground and cover them with spruce branches or spunbond for the winter.
