 Old specimens begin to degenerate and bloom with simple flowers, and therefore they should be dug up and divided into several parts; this operation is best done in the summer, after flowering. On June 4, 2023, according to the results of a vote on the radio show "Vroege Vogels", the daisy was officially recognized as the national flower of the Netherlands.

 Of the 53 thousand votes received, the daisy won by a large margin. The choice, as botanist and head of the horticulture department at the Leiden Botanical Garden Rogier van Vugt explained, is due in particular to the fact that this flower is one of the most common in the Netherlands.
