 A woody plant, a species of the genus Elaeagnus of the Elaeagnaceae family.

 It is a shrub 1–4 m high, less often a small tree with a strong rhizome that can extend 8 m from the bush. The branches are thorny, sparsely or densely covered with silvery scales.

 Silver oleaster is common in the eastern part of North America. It is a light-loving plant, but can grow in partial shade in culture. A frost-resistant plant, it can withstand frost down to -40 °C.

 It is used by humans in landscaping. It grows well both in single and group plantings.
