Irga species grow in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere: in North America, North Africa, Central and Southern Europe, the Caucasus, Crimea and Japan.
Irga fruits are eaten fresh, processed into jam, pastilles, jelly, wine. In medicine, irga fruits are used to treat hypo- and avitaminosis, as well as to normalize sleep and strengthen the body.
