Papaver betonicifolia

Formerly known as: Meconopsis betonicifolia. The appeal of the Himalayan poppy is strong due to its hard-to-find blue color. These plants have special growing conditions in zones 3 to 7 and bloom for about two weeks.

The national flower of Bhutan grows best in areas that resemble its native habitat, with cool summers and moist soil. They are recommended for mountain rock gardens only and grow best in the Pacific Northwest.
