It is not recommended to grow asters in one place for more than one year.

If you plant asters in the same area for a long time, this will lead to the spread of diseases and depletion of the soil. When growing annuals, it is recommended to alternate flower crops, taking into account the belonging of plants to certain families.

Plants that are part of the same family are usually affected by the same pathogens of viral, bacterial and fungal infections, as well as pests. Therefore, you should not arrange a flower bed using closely related plants for 2 or 3 years in a row.

For the most well-known annuals, the following order of annual crop rotation is proposed: aster, carnation, sweet pea, stock, calendula, petunia, snapdragon, marigold, nasturtium, zinnia, eschscholzia. Each annual should not be planted in the same place earlier than after 5 years.

Growing annual crops does not require the use of high doses of organic fertilizers. The soil on the site is prepared in the fall, adding 1 sq. meter 0.5 buckets of compost, 200–300 g of lime, 50–100 g of superphosphate and 20–40 g of potassium sulfate.
