Boveya or Boveya (Bowiea).

Bovieya can rightfully be considered one of the most outwardly exotic indoor plants. While this plant is rarely found in Russian apartments and is familiar mainly to collectors, it is becoming increasingly popular due to its fantastic appearance. Despite its exoticism, bovieya is quite easy to grow.

Belongs to the Hyacinth family. The bulbous plant is found in nature in the desert regions of Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The plant belongs to the species of herbaceous succulents. The bulb in adulthood reaches a diameter of 30 cm and is covered with protective scales. The root system is powerful, branched.

The stems are creeping, can hang down like ampelous plants. The leaves are small, branched, but grow only on young shoots.

At the end of the growing season, the leaves are replaced by peduncles. They reach 3 meters in length and have small white flowers. Since the above-ground part is quite voluminous, the plant needs supports for the green mass.

During the dormant period, which lasts about 6 months, all shoots and flower stalks dry out. Bowea's dormant and growing seasons can change under the influence of external conditions.

During the waking period, the plant needs bright but diffused sunlight. Under direct sunlight, the plant can get severe burns.

The temperature during dormancy should not be higher than 15 degrees and lower than 8 degrees. If the temperature is higher than required, Bowea will not shed its leaves, and new shoots will not appear. During the growing season, high temperatures provoke the drying out of the bulb.

During the growing season, room temperature is suitable.

Watering in the summer is carried out only when the soil lump is completely dry. In winter, the plant is not watered at all. The air humidity should be low, like the usual temperature in the apartment.

The soil can be made up by yourself from 2 parts of leaf soil, 1 part of turf and 1 part of sand. When planting the bulb, it is deepened by one third. It is necessary to fertilize once every two or three years with complex mineral fertilizer.

This plant is represented in home floriculture in a single form.
