 Botanical description:

Philodendron marcii is a plant of the family Araceae, evergreen and flowering.

It belongs to the genus Philodendron, which has about 900 species.

In nature, philodendrons prefer humid tropical forests.

The species marcii is known for its large, heart-shaped, entire leaves, reminiscent of canna leaves.

The leaves are erect, thick, leathery or semi-leathery, glossy, dark green.

They can reach 2 meters in length or more, and also have a pointed apex and a wedge-shaped or truncated base. The petioles are short, C-shaped, with a longitudinal groove, probably used to store moisture and starch.

The spathe is light green, greenish-yellow or greenish-cream, and within the tube it is reddish-purple.

Reproduces by seeds, which are spread by birds or animals eating the fruits.

 Habitat:

In nature, philodendrons grow in the tropical forests of Central and South America.

They are often found in the shade of taller trees, crawling along their trunks and branches.

The humid and warm climate of these regions promotes their growth.

 In culture:

Philodendrons, including the species Marcius, are widely used as ornamental houseplants.

Some species, such as Philodendron climbing, are grown as vines.

Philodendrons, including Marcius, can be grown both in greenhouses and winter gardens, and in apartments.

To successfully grow philodendrons at home, it is important to provide them with a warm and humid climate, as well as diffused light.
