Chlorophytum comosum Plant.

Perennial evergreen herbs, reaching a height of up to 1 m and a diameter of 1 m, with a recumbent rhizome, initially spread horizontally, but then growing upwards, up to 150 mm long, often covered with old leaf bases. The roots are fleshy, tapering on both sides (fusiform), juicy, up to 10 mm in diameter. Linear leaves form a dense basal rosette, bright green, smooth (naked) with a distinct midrib, grooved, about 300 mm long and 20 mm wide, ending in a soft tip, with entire edges covered with a shell at the base.

The inflorescence is loose, longer than the leaves, spreading, arising from the center of the rosette and reaching a length of up to 1 m. The peduncle is 2-4 mm in diameter and has linear-lanceolate bracts tapering toward the tip.

The flowers are often replaced by vegetative-leafy buds that take root and serve for vegetative propagation.

The flowers grow in axillary bundles. Individual flowers are star-shaped, white, up to 20 mm in diameter, with 6 stamens. The floral leaves (perianth florets) are oblong, up to 10 mm long, becoming curved. The style is smooth, small, with a small point (stigma). The fruit is a triangular capsule, the seeds are flat, black, shiny.
