The Double Delight rose (Rosa Double Delight) is one of the most popular and renowned hybrid tea rose varieties in the world, bred in the USA in 1977. The variety has gained global acclaim for its unique two-tone coloration and exceptionally strong, sweet, fruity fragrance. In 1985, it was deservedly inducted into the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) Rose Hall of Fame.
The buds open from a creamy-white or pale yellow center, while the outer petals take on a rich strawberry-red or raspberry hue under the influence of ultraviolet light. In the shade or in greenhouses, the flower may remain almost white.
This variety is relatively undemanding and tolerates hot climates exceptionally well. To ensure the raspberry-red rim is as vibrant as possible, the rose should be planted in a sunny, well-lit location. Preventive treatment against fungal diseases—such as powdery mildew and black spot—is recommended, as the variety shows only moderate resistance to these issues in damp weather.
